YBW: Videos of the Month

Our goal is to make this a regular thing. The beauty of sites like Vimeo and every once in a while, Youtube, is that you get to experience things from all over that you normally wouldn’t have a chance to experience. Here’s a few we’ve been watching this month. Enjoy!

If you ever tried to shoot anything in your life you realize how difficult this was to pull off.

Stop motion. Oxymoron, but still cool.

The OK Tee is selling like mad! YBW friends and fans are being very supportive. This group of pro dancers agreed to take some pics this week to show their support of the effort. When I say pro I mean dancing for Rihanna, Beyonce, Neyo, Keri Hilson, Miley Cyrus, and on and on. Special thanks to David, Brian, Ivan, Sophie, and Natalie for not only taking the pictures but buying the shirt! The OK Tee will be restocked in the next couple days, make sure you get one!

LOVE

cirque-de-soliel
This past weekend we had the opportunity to play the Enchanted Unicorn slot machine inside the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. After losing our money we did something more productive and useful, we went to see the Cirque Du Soleil show, LOVE. If you have had the opportunity to see any of their shows you know the awesomeness that is Cirque Du Soleil. This show is their homage to the music/thoughts/creativity of the Beatles. This will anger people who get angry about what music other people prefer, but I’m not a huge Beatles fan. The real reason for that is that I was born in 1983. My music appreciation doesn’t reach much further past my birth. But even though I wasn’t singing along with the show it was still full of insanely creative elements and incredibly inspiring imagery. The “Circus of the Sun” has shows all over the place and a couple traveling shows. I’ve only seen two of them, but I would for sure go back and see them again. If you’re involved in anything creative, you need to be around stuff like this. Even if it’s not your medium, find the art in it and use it to become better at your own.

Thank you for being patient.

The last few weeks have been incredibly busy here at YBW. We’ve sold out of nearly everything and had to call in for reprints. Usually we will ship orders within 24 hours of your purchase, but because the crazy number of orders we’ve had recently it’s impossible to get them out that fast. We just wanted to thank you for your patience and let you know that you orders are coming as soon as we can get them to you. Today the first batch of “OK” tees goes out for shipment, for those of you who got in early on ordering yours! We are currently sold out of nearly every size of the “OK” tee but we will be restocking soon so keep checking back with us if you haven’t gotten the one you wanted. Thank you so much for your patience, for your support of YBW, and for those of you who bought shirts, your support of the Haitian people.

Thanks,
YBW

The “OK” Tee

ybw_ok-t_mock_red_black

Available now on our website for pre-order only, is a new shirt that will continue support the relief effort in Haiti. We wanted to come up with something that would last not only through these next couple weeks, but also through the long rebuilding process. So we’ve teamed up with Greg at printmygoods.com (who is donating the printing for this project) and we are releasing this new tee that reads “Tout Bagay Deja Byen.” We have been able to visit Haiti a couple times in the past. This past summer I actually spent a week and a half there, about 100 miles outside of Port-Au-Prince. While we were there we saw a sign with these words on it “Tout Bagay Deja Byen.” In english this phrase would be translated as “All things are already good” or “Everything is already OK.” It was explained that this was a statement that Haitians use as a means of spreading hope. To us this statement best represents what we have experienced for ourselves and we have learned about the Haitian people in the last few days. They are incredibly strong and hopeful.

This video was taken a few days ago in the streets of Port-Au-Prince. If you listen close you can hear what they’re singing.

The Response

the-response
This week we decided that any sale from our site would go directly to the people in desperate need in Haiti. We put it out there and you all responded. Because of your purchases this week YBW will be sending just over $2000 dollars to the relief efforts in Haiti! As you can see we are nearly out of everything and have called for reprints on alot of our desings. We appreciate your patience as some of your orders will take longer than normal to arrive. Special thanks to Peter Facinelli for spreading the word on Twitter, and special thanks to Genevieve Penn. Thank you so much for your support of the Haitian people. We will be releasing a shirt in the next couple days that will be specifically for Haiti Relief as a way to continue supporting the relief effort there, because the problem is far from over. Be on the look out for that shirt. Thanks again YBW fans!!

Freeset

picture-2Recently we got a chance to meet the people at Freeset Tees. Freeset is a company that is based out of Calcutta. It’s main focus as a company isn’t to make nice tees (which they do anyway). Their main focus is rescuing women from sexual slavery. Slavery is a huge problem in countries where jobs are scarce. People trying to support their families are forced to turn to other means of making money. Freeset offers training and a steady well paying job, healthcare, and a retirement plan to women who would otherwise be prostitutes and slaves. We got a chance to check out their tees and we were really impressed with the quality and the fit. Plus all their tees are produced with organically grown cotton. Needless to say, YBW will be working with Freeset in the near future. Check out Freeset, click here.

Last Monday YBW hosted a benefit concert featuring Judith Hill. The evening was a success, raising approximately $10,000 for the Feeding the Thousands campaign for the people of Northwest Haiti. Every dollar raised will go to buy meals for families in desperate need. Special thanks to Judith & Lu Rain. Thanks to Louie, Othello, and Charles for all the pictures. Thanks to Dalyn, Ramsey and the rest of the crew at the El Rey for making it happen. Thanks everyone for coming out and supporting this cause.

HOPE.

hope_blog
On December 14th, we are excited to be hosting HOPE: A Benefit for the People of Northwest Haiti. The concert will feature Judith Hill from Michael Jackson’s “This Is It.” Every dollar of the ticket sales will go to feeding starving people in Northwest Haiti. Haiti is the poorest country in the entire western hemisphere. In 2008, three hurricanes hit the island of Haiti in a matter of four weeks. Since then food has been even more scarce than it was before. If this benefit sells out completely, then the money from the tickets will feed over 500,000 people. Please be a part of this event, and join us in changing lives and offering hope.
